Grand Theft Auto VI will be priced at $79.99 for its standard edition when it arrives on November 19, 2026, a figure that has already sparked criticism from fans. Costco members in the United States can now reduce that price through a lesser-known promotion tied to PlayStation 5 eGift cards.
The promotion requires buying a four-pack of Sony PlayStation eGift cards from Costco. Although the deal is exclusive to members, it applies to the digital edition of the game. Physical buyers still receive a download code, ensuring the discount works in that case. The gift cards are delivered via email, so a membership is necessary to access them.
Several conditions apply. Customers can make only one purchase per transaction, with a maximum of two purchases allowed within any 14-day window. Download codes arrive within 24 hours and cannot be refunded. The discount is also limited to the U.S., leaving international buyers without this option.
Players without Costco memberships can explore alternative savings methods. Trading in old games, consoles, or non-gaming items, such as tablets or graded trading cards, at retailers like GameStop may yield credits. Some trade-ins even include bonus rewards, further lowering the final cost. Amazon Prime members occasionally find discounts on PlayStation digital gift cards, though past offers, such as a $5 reduction, may no longer be available.
Xbox Series X players have different early-access strategies, but PlayStation 5 owners relying on this Costco method should move quickly. The savings won’t last, and with the game’s release in November, keeping an eye on retail promotions remains the best approach for cost savings.
